Dog Days of Summer is a company wide initiative to raise funds for Leader Dogs for the Blind. From June 21 – Aug 21, Midwest Eye Consultants will donate $5 per pair of sunglasses sold to Leader Dogs for the Blind. Since 1939, Leader Dogs for the Blind has operated one of the world’s most respected and innovative guide dog programs. The free, 25-day residential training program welcomes clients who are legally blind, at least 16 years old, have good orientation and mobility skills and are able to care for their dog. Training is personalized for each client. Thanks to sophisticated breeding, puppy raising and dog training programs, Leader Dog is able to match clients with a dog that best fits their lifestyle, travel pace, physical size, stamina and other considerations. Clients have the opportunity to train with their guide dog in a variety of situations to fit their current and future needs, including urban, suburban and rural locations; college campuses; busy stores and malls; public transit and other environments. Leader Dogs also offers other programs to enhance quality of life and independence for the blind, visually impaired and deaf-blind communities, including accelerated orientation and mobility training, GPS technology, deaf-blind dog training, and a summer experience camp for teens. Midwest Eye Consultants has been a proud partner of Leader Dogs for the Blind since 2017. Our doctors and staff from locations all over Indiana and Ohio spend time fundraising and working to support the Leader Dogs for the Blind program and raise awareness.
