EDUCATIONAL AND CREDENTIALS REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Holds and maintains current RN licensure in the state of Indiana.
- Holds and maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per hospital policy.
- Holds or obtains Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications within a reasonable time limit.
- S.T.A.B.L.E. and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications preferred.

- Classroom or clinical teaching experience preferred.

- Understands and responds to the needs of both internal and external customers.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Oversees and coordinates all organizational education activities, including hospital-wide and physician clinic programs.
- Ensures effective use of the HealthStream learning management system for staff training and meeting documentation, as well as compliance tracking.
- Develops an annual Education Plan incorporating guest speaker, external presentations, skills fairs, competency assessments, and HealthStream assignments.
- Conducts an annual Educational Needs Assessment to guide future planning based on risk, knowledge gaps, and previous data.
- Coordinates with external organizations to provide additional educational opportunities.
- Maintains accurate documentation of all employee education records.
- Collaborates with CNO, HR, and department leaders to plan, deliver, and document mandatory annual competencies per policy.
- Directs and assists departmental directors/managers in developing annual department-specific competencies, while also supporting implementation and documentation in employee education records.
- Provides monthly new hire orientation covering general clinical education and other training needs identified by department directors.
- Supports department directors verify that new hires meet educational requirements during their introductory period and maintain accurate orientation records, forwarding necessary documentation to Human Resources.
- Maintains comprehensive records of educational activities, including attendance at hospital-sponsored or funded internal and external programs.
- Serves as the HealthStream learning management system administrator, in order to maintain proficiency through ongoing training.
- Oversees scheduling of BLS certification and recertification for employees based on job requirements or requests, including assigning CPR skills review during non-certification years.
- Coordinates NRP, ACLS, and PALS certification and recertification for organizational staff and community members, following respective guidelines.
- Consults with department directors and staff to identify additional educational or training needs such as Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), basic arrhythmia interpretation, Emergency Severity Index (ESI) triage system, and AWHONN fetal monitoring.
- Integrates customer service principles and age-specific care considerations into all patient and staff education initiatives.
- Supports development and delivery of patient education materials and staff training resources.
- Serves as Training Center Coordinator (TCC), or assists the current TCC, ensuring compliance with AHA training center requirements and managing related activities.
- Maintains AHA instructor and training site records in accordance with AHA policies.
- Oversee development and management of both operating and capital budgets for the Education Department.
