EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiological Technologist ARRT (R) &  Mammography (M) (ARRT)
  • Required Licensure with the State of Indiana.
  • Basic Life Support certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience performing Mammography procedures required, in a hospital environment preferred.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Responsible for Mammography accreditations (ACR – MQSA).
  • Prepares and operates equipment and positions patients correctly in order to provide the requested diagnostic images for interpretation.
  • Acquires adequate knowledge of the patients’ medical history to understand and relate to their illnesses, being responsive to those concerns, and the fears associated with the use of radiation.
  • Educates staff accordingly and provides the necessary tools to perform their job duties.
  • Responsible for modality quality metrics, regulatory compliance, and policies and procedures for the modality and brings any issues or concerns to the director immediately.
  • Treats patients, visitors, and fellow employees with care and respect.
  • Serves as the patient’s advocate.
  • Recognizes maintenance of equipment, confirms equipment malfunctions, and makes arrangements to restore equipment to proper service.
  • Participates in departmental inspections conducted by various licensing, regulatory, and accrediting agencies.
  • Functions as a team member and assists other departments within Diagnostic Imaging when necessary.
  • Communicated effectively to other team members to provide quality patient care.
  • Participates in performance improvement projects and strives to meet desired goals.
  • Keeps abreast of modality best practices and standard of care and brings ideas for new revenue forward to the director.
  • Assumes the responsibility for ensuring all needed supplies and equipment are available for patient care and efficient workflow.
  • Works closely with the Diagnostic Imaging Director to improve and implement processes.
